Default How do I know if I have an exhaust leak?

Was finally able to de-cat the head pipe today. How do I know if I have an exhaust leak after reassembly? I did not hear one but there was a little smoke after I started it but it stopped. I did reuse the original exhaust gasket.

borrow a cigarette or incense stick and wave the burning tip near the pipe and fittings looking for a disruption in the smoke.

best to try this when the motor is first started from cold, as many leaks seal up as parts expand, rarely the other way.
