Damn sun..
Glad you're ok Steve. Stuff happens. I have a lot of trouble with glare too. The later it gets in the year and later in the day the more trouble I have due to the sun angle. I recently bought a helmet with a flip-down dark visor to help in those situations.
Glad your ok Steve! I was out on Sunday in the Eastern part of the state as well. We were on many back roads but when we hit main roads without shade the damn sun was literally eye level.
Emergency stops SUCK!!! Glad you were able to control your beast! Nothing worse then the back wheel skidding and deciding to come around to meet your front end.
I also had a slight situation as well. Comming up a hill to a stop light. No issue there. 3 Cages in front of me, light turns green all began to move. Gage in front me decided to stop at the green light. Braked and went to put my right foot down and NO ROAD. The road was so badly worn I was on top and the right side was nearly 4 inches depressed. Slow motion drop. All was good and 2 cagers blocked us and jumped out to help me stand the bike up! There are good people out there for sure and out number the bad.
Ride on.

Thanks guys, i'm king of glad the back tire locked up, it was the squeal that got their attention, just glad the front didn't lock up that would have been a different story. I had enough thought to let off the rear brake so it wouldn't slide sideways, locked it up twice while staying hard on the front, all while the tunes were jamming lol... I simply just did not see the light partly because of the sun and because i was looking ahead of where i was going. No ABS on my bike..

If at all possible I don't ride right after sunrise, or just before sunset. I have come to realize that if I can't see them they can't see me.
When the sun gets low I usually just stop somewhere and enjoy a cup of coffee or a cool drink. Then I wait until the big yellow ball falls below the horizon before continuing my ride.

I had a similar experience this week on my Ultra. What clues me into the light was the movement of vehicles into the intersection from the left. Locked the *** end up twice while trying to stop. Ended up still in the intersection, but luckily after the cages had cleared. It was ewarly and I woke up quickly. Glad to hear you are ok.
