Default Will a Air Filter help?

Have a 2012 Street Glide with 103.
Gutted the cat and installed V-ied's.
Bike runs much better now. Cooler and stronger.

Would it help any to upgrade the stock air filter to one of the High Performance ones (Fuel Moto)?

Put it to you like this, if you are happy with the performance increase that you obtained from the exhaust mod, you will be extremely happy after you upgrade the filter and backing plate.
I got a Ness big sucker from Fuel Moto and it is a noticable difference. Upgrading the exhaust without upgrading the air filter is like having peas without carrots.

best bang for buck is the ness big sucker with chrome backing plate.

about $115 on ebay from easternpc

opening up the exhaust and leaving the intake restricted doesn't reach flow potential. flow = power and a stage 1 is the most power for the least cost on a harley. and reliable too.

Or vica-versa.

Did the same thing you have done and you don't need any new air filter. Good combined mpg @ 42 and all highway I see about 45/47 mpg depending on temp and terrain and so no need to change air filter. Just buying all the extra snake oil thingamabobs makes you a good consumer. Unless you do cams and the whole **** like some of the gearheads-which is cool no offense intended so don't start reamin' me-you don't need more air. It is fine where you are at and you don't need any more to make the lean bike better than it is now. You did the right stuff if you stop now. Anymore and you just start chasing your tail. If you think you gotta do something buy the KN filter just so you can clean it instead of replacing it when it gets dirty.

Will it help what? It probably will NOT make it run any cooler.

Do you need it? No, not if you are happy with how it is running.

Will it give you more horsepower and torque? Yes.

With an Outlaw HiFlow 587 A/C system you will gain up to 10 ft-lbs of torque in the rpm range that you ride in most of the time.

Equally important, this system vents the dirty hot air from the crankcase into the atmosphere instead of into the engine. This will contribute to the longevity of your motor.

Related note: How many times have you read from guys that have been riding their bike for 1-2 years and it has been running perfectly...they changed nothing, but it started pinging. More times than not, this is because the stock (and most aftermarket) air cleaners shove that hot dirty oily air into the combustion chamber, it build up carbon on the pistons, changing their compression ratio and it starts pinging.

I want to learn more. Do you have a picture of how the hoses are directed and to where? I have dirty stuff coming back into my engine and I know it is not good.

Please either send me the install instructions or a picture of the exploded view of one that is installed if you can.

Thanks

All the Outlaw systems have two choices of breathers (that do not feed dirty air back into the engine)

Breather Bolts, which do not require any hoses and have the filters built into the bolts

OR

The Traditional hose and filter style

You can see both HERE, click on them and there are pictures of them down at the bottom of each description.

Here are a couple of pictures-

Thanks

My concern now is that through these two breather bolts there will be some residual oil coming out and it will drip down on the engine. Is this going to happen? What solution do you have for this?

Thanks
