Default Electrical Diagnostic Manual -- worth it??

Is that manual worth getting? How detailed is diagnostics? Lake Shore is now offering free shipping so it's something I am considering, but would like to know from someone who has one if it is really usable and useful. Does it go into any repair of items or just replace. Have an intermittent problem with my heated grips, seems to cut off after a bit, that I would like to figure out. Yes it's under warranty but I replaced the bars with internal wiring so I can see the dealer trying to distance itself from the problem.

Thanks

if you have an electrical background you may find it useful.

the manual may be too detailed for those with a passing knowledge of how electrical systems work.

Lightbulb My .02 worth.

If it helps you out once, it's worth it.

I have one. As it says, it's primarily diagnostic in nature. By that I don't mean to be stating the obvious, but it's true. It's more of an electrical troubleshooting guide for all of the electrical systems on the bike.

Lots of discussion about DTCs, what they mean, and how to test the system affected. Everything electric from heated grips, to the security system, to the tail light. Certainly included are the ignition and charging systems in the motor, starter issues, then discusses certain conditions and what to look for and check to determine root cause.

I can't remember everything, but the manual is about 2/3 as thick as the service manual. I've used it many times to acquire the pinout diagrams for various connectors and to find a specific wire based on that wire's color that is defined in the ED manual. It's been a useful tool so far.

It's absolutely essential in my opinion. Equally as necessary as the Service Manual.

For many issues, the first step in the diagnostic process is to check for DTCs. The Electrical Diagnostic Manual is where you'll find DTC definition, potential causes, and troubleshooting procedures. There's more, but that alone makes it indespensible.

The electronic version can travel on a USB key but the book is more practical in a garage.

I've had one for every bike I've owned (habit I guess) and have never taken the plastic wrap off of any of them. The Serivce Manual has all the wiring diagrams you'll ever need.
