Question Tour Pack Lock

I have a 2010 Ultra I bought in January of 2011. The lock on the tour pack got stuck in between the lock and unlock postition. I couldn't get the key in and luckily it was unlocked when it happened. My dealer replaced and now today it has done it again and once again I was lucky and it was unlocked. I also had this happen on my 2005 Electra Glide and after my friend bought it it also happened. I called my dealer and he still has everything on file and is going to order another. Has anyone else had this problem? I am afraid one day I am going to be a the road and this happens in the locked position.

I've owned Harley's with tour paks for many years. Never experienced what you describe. Is there something in the pak that could be interfering with the movement of the lock pawl?

Except that I would use a white lithium grease.

I think you would have to disasemble the lock to get the grease in.

My 2012 Limited had the lock jammed in that position when I bought it. Hasn't happened since with the new lock.

Weird that it would happen with two different locks. Never happened to me. Use graphite lubricant. It will dry and won't attract grit.
