Default 10" Apes done!!

Finished up my ape install tonight, very happy with these bars. All thats left to do is fill the reservoir and bleed the lines. They feel great for me! All wiring was plenty long enough, clutch cable was no problem, throttle cables ended up fitting better on the inside of the bars, but these bars are alot different than the stock ones.

Santee 10" Black Mini Apes, 32$ from J&P Cycles
Goodrige black braided brake lines, 130$ from J&P Cycles

Changes the side profile of the bike bigtime, I love how they look and feel.

Looks great!

Should you have gone 12"? It seems like most who install their first set of apes indicate they should have went 2" (or more) higher.

Enjoy! SJ Ron

I went 10" on mine. I am glad I started with 10". I am really happy with them. Much better than stock. I am sure I have higher coming up in my future though.

You know, I ordered the 10" from Wild1 and didn't think they were high enough. So, I exchanged them for 12 1/2". After a year with these bars, I'm thinking the 12 1/2" are too high. So, they're one my winter project list to swap out to something else.

I think you made the right decision to go with the 10"

It's a totally individual thing, depending on how tall the rider is, how long his arms are, the seat being used, and where you like your hands to be when you ride. I put 12" monkey bars on my bike, I probably should have gone 14, but I'm really glad I didn't go 10.
