Idiot Riders
This morning about 5:30am, southbound on US 59 in Houston, near Bush Airport, I was in the hammer lane. There was a fella on a street glide lollygaggin in that lane, running about 5mph slower than the people there. I pulled in to about 3 car lengths of him, gave him a flash of the lights to get him to let us by. This jackass started flipping me off, cussing at me and raising all kinds of hell. Then he jumped on his brakes, almost causing me to run over his ***.
The left lane is for passing, not cruising and sightseeing. It is not an exclusive lane for Harley Davidsons. Get out of it when people want to pass.
Some day, this jackass is going to do that to the wrong person, and we'll here about him on the six o'clock news. He's lucky he pulled that crap on me.
I've been riding Harley Davidson motorcycles for the best part of 45 years, in this country and around the world. I am not biker unfriendly. Nuff said.

There I was singing Highway to the Danger Zone, day dreaming I was Tom Cruise when out of no where this old guy on his Harley starts flashing his lights at me. I was all like "come at me bro" but this dude on his geezer glide just chilaxed and rode behind me enjoying my melody.
Had I known it was you I would have flipped on some Cash and spit out some Folsom Prison Blues.
Ride safe.

Although the speed limit is the same for all lanes it is also understood that we should keep right/pass left. Sometimes one decides the left lane is no longer yours to use for passing.
A little blip of a light is merely a request to pass left but the self appointed left lane police would prefer you pass in the danger zone.

When in large cities I like to drive in the left lane. I also make sure to drive pretty fast so as to not hold anybody up. I like this lane as traffic can come at you from limited directions.

I'm a little confused. If he was riding 5 MPH slower that the people that were there, why were the other people still there? Wouldn't they be far ahead of him and getting father ahead?
What was the speed limit? Was he going faster than people in the other lanes?
If I'm riding 10 MPH over the speed limit and you fly up on my *** flashing your lights I'd flip you the bird too.

It's not just Harleys. I drive a lot for work and left lane loafing has reached epidemic proportions. It's not just "understood" that the left lane is for passing, it's the law - at least here. I too like to be in the left lane when in traffic as it limits my exposure to one side(normally), but the rule I like to abide by is: If there is traffic behind you, no matter how fast you're going, move over! I have never understood why people feel the need to try and regulate someone else's speed. If they want to go faster, let them. I think its nice to have a rabbit out front!
