Default Screen protection for oil cooler fins

I'd like to place a screen of some type in between my Chrome oil cooler cover and the actual fins of my new stock cooler. I think Jason mentioned doing this but I can't find a link? Anybody running a screen to protect the cooler from road debris? I live on 6 miles of long tough gravel roads and want to protect the cooler from the stones and grit flying off the fron tire going down the road. I have been told it should not impede air flow. If anybody else has done this what did you use and how did you attach it so it looked good? I'm thinking black metal window screen? Thanks

makes sense, should work well.

just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get jammed up with bug guts.

a metal screen should be tough enough that you can scrub with a nylon bristle brush

A ton of golf ball sized stones, gravel and mud would damage that cooler sitting where it does in no time where I live! Thought the screen would be a good option and easier to clean then fins, not to mention the straightening of the fins that I'd need to do.

I'd put a mud flap on my front fender, I want all the air I can get going across my oil cooler.
