Default dunlop tire dry rot cracks

While checking my tires I noticed cracks in the front tire on my 2012 streetglide, went to moco ,they called tech which is closed on the weekend . So I called again this morning ,they checked with tech and said yes its a warranty problem to be taken care of asap. !!!!

got the same thing happening to my front tire- 2012 SG. Service Writer at my local HD says- Nope- MOCO won't do anything about it, it's a known issue & is not a problem?

You are both right.
Harley-Davidson will not warranty it, it's a tire problem.
But Dunlop will warranty it.
I had mine warranted (new tire) but had to pay for the install.

Even on cars and trucks the tires are warranted by the manufacturer, not the car or truck builder.

My dealer knew nothing about this and called Dunlop and Dunlop said sure no problem.
It's a certain build date I think. They will need all the info off your side wall.

Replace them at the 5year date, regardless of condition (date code on each tire).

I had mine replaced with only 3,400 also under warranty. I was on a road trip & Santa Maria HD tried to tell me it was from under inflation & some other BS. They didn't even stock the tire. There was one young lady who worked there made some calls & found one for me at Ventura HD. When I got there they just glanced at the tire & took it right in. Great service & great techs.

I'm in the same situation with my rear tire.

My rear tire is costing me 300 USD including balancing and a new aluminum offset inflating valve. Begging for a free replacement at the dealership will cost me twice this amount without knowing that the tire can effectively be replaced for free.
I counted loosing 1/2 day of work + the real cost of the return trip to the dealer + dealership labor expenses.

I just had the 18" Dunlop replaced on my front under warranty because it had sidewall cracks. I was told I had to pay for the mounting. The tech showed me my front pads were down to almost nothing. Told them go ahead, figured not much extra while the bike was on the rack. They have a new girl writing service. She only charged me for the brake pads ($50 each side) and 1/4 hr labor. Best deal I ever got from this Harley dealer.
