Default Front End Mods?

So I ordered a set of JRI B 13" shocks for the rear of my bike today, on the advice of members I read here. Howard was extremely helpful in the process.

So with the rears basically figured out, I turn my attention to the front forks. My research thus far has left me really wondering what to do. There doesn't seem to be a "great" solution for the front end, only a "better than stock" solution. So with that in mind, I'm faced with yet another quandary. While I have to front completely apart what else should I look into doing at the same time to save me some effort.

I'm seriously considering having someone else do the front end work as I'm a bit intimidated by removing the entire fairing and forks. I think it's beyond my skill level and tools the I have available, not to mention it will likely take me 10x as long to finish.

I'm considering new bars that will be closer to me when I stretch out. I was considering the Klockwerk Ergo Back bars but other than changing the angle your wrist is at it doesn't seem to come any further back. I really need something that is a couple inches further back than the stock so I'm not having to reach as far while stretched out. I can say with some certainty that I don't want anything that'll place my hands above the batwing. I'm 6'2" if that helps anyone make suggestions. Also looking to replace the ambient air temp gauge with an oil temp gauge.

Any advice, suggestions, comments, concerns would be greatly appreciated at this stage.

Thanks in advance.

Options: Progressive springs, Gold Emulators, other stuff & sometimes just going to a slightly heavier weight oil does it for many. You have to decide if your wanting to carve curves or just a nicer ride. I went with Progrssive springs & stock fluid.

If you're willing to do the hard work you can save money by removing the forks from the trees & take the assembly to a shop for the internal work. Check with your shop before hand. Some shops may or may not do it that way. Be sure you mark your legs with Left & Right.

Cant help with the bars ....

Good luck

I think fabrik8r's modified intimitaters are equal to the JRI B's on my Road King. Amazingly smooth.

fwiw I also like the Harley high (pullback) bars now that I've put miles on them.

I'm also very happy with fabrik8r's modified intimitaters and Racetech springs. Been through Progessive springs and Racetech gold valves before. These are the best!!

I have standard Klockwerks sweepers and really like them on my EG. I'm 6' and wouldn't want to go taller (have 16" apes on my RK) but an inch or two more pullback might be nicer?

Being new here I think I misjudged the prevalence of the garage feature. My ride - more or less - is listed there. I realize now that I should have put this info in my original post.

Default bars

I installed Khromeworks +2 sweepers on my EGlide; I really like them. these bars are a little higher and back than stock and the wrist angle is much better/flatter. They were about $65 from Dennis Kirk. I like them so much I commited to them; got them powder coated this winter.

I'm a fairly aggressive rider. That being said, I'm not trying to turn a bagger into a race bike, nor am I looking for crazy lean in corners. I'm aware of the limitations of a bagger and am perfectly willing to live within those confines. I want comfort and a better ride. I want to get rid of the wallowing that my bike has at speed.

That's two with the Progressive Monotubes. I have looked at these... I'm going to lie, I've got no clue what I'm looking at. I know my dealer suggested monotubes to me and I think he mentioned these and the Harley part. Said something about different ways to get the same end result.

I tried to look up "fabrik8r's modified intimitaters" without any luck. I recognize Racetech as that is another site I visited trying to piece together some knowledge. I'm assuming the modified intimitaters are a forum members mod? Is there a link to where I might learn more about these?

It's less that I'm willing to do the work and more that I'm intimidated by it. I've worked on cars in the past and done some pretty amazing things with my limited knowledge including changing out front and rear suspension on a car. My concern is that a car having four wheels and a nice solid cage to enclose the passengers is one thing. If my suspension falls off because of my ineptitude then I'm liable to crash and maybe sustain some minor injuries. Whereas, a motorcycle has none of these features and if I mess up, I'm more likely to die. I'm thinking the reduced stress and peace of mind having someone else do it is worth the extra $$$. Just my thoughts. I also haven't worked on anything in about 7 years, just don't have the space.

Do you have pictures? Maybe taken from the side and so I can get a visual as to where these might land?

Thank you all for the input, it gives me some other places to look. Oviously I still have a lot to learn before I can really settle on a purchase for front suspension. Also, Oldhippie and Joe12RK, thanks for the handlebar ideas. I'll have to look into those.
