Question for all of you experienced bagger riders...
I'm picking up my Ultra on Tuesday and suspect I will want to replace the windshield for a slightly shorter one. The stock windshield appears that it will cut my vision half over and half through the shield. As we intend to do a lot of two-up riding, what is the general rule of thumb for determining how tall the windshield has to be to both not inhibit my vision and not pound my passengers with wind?
I'd rather not guess and have to drop more money because I was wrong.
I prefer the Cee Baileys SSC windshield myself. I have the 12" model which is equal to a stock 9". I look over it by 1.5 to 2". No wind problems. As far as eliminating all wind especially for your passenger may I recommend a nice car? It's all about being out in the breeze isn't it?
Look in the front of the 07 HD accessories catalogue, page 10 & 11 for windsheild fitment.
I have read a lot of positivefeedbackabout the Clearview sheilds so I ordered me one and my son got him one too. UPS is suppose to delever them tomorrow. Nothing wrong with mine just looking for something better. When I ride my son's Glide more of the wind hits me at the top of my head.
LOL, I have atruck to protect my passengers from wind, but my wife doesn't want the sore neck on the Ultra that she gets from the Fatboy when we are shieldless. Just looking for the appropriate height so that the wind isn't slamming her in the face. Appreciate the recommendation though.
Boze, I'm running a 10" chrome smoke from J&P cycles. I'm 6'4" and the wife is 5"11" and the shield is perfect for the both of us. i can see over the Shield and she doesn't get the big blast. Good luck.
Theses are the best windshields I have ever used, the extra width is great cutting buffetting, 10" seems perfect for most. I use a 10" with passenger and a 9" solo. I am 5'10".
