Default Something doesn't make sense!

Having charging problems, so I took the inspection cover off to see if the primary oil smelled bad, a sure sign that the stator is screwwed. No it smelled fine.
So I phone the dealer, 3 hours away to see if they have a regulator. The parts gut looked it up, told me they only used that part on three model years, 06, 07 and 08. Then he told me they have never sold one. In other words, they have never had a regulator fail on an 06', 07' or o8' bike.
WTF is that?
Just doesn't make sense to me.

You need to do some diagnosis with a multimeter, to find what the problem is! Why do you say you have charging problems, what are the symptoms? There are some useful stickys in the DIY forum that may help.

I've got a couple of lights on on my dash. One is of a batterry, one is the engine light, and the voltage meter shows it's only charging at 11. This bike always charged at over 13, until these lights came on.

If you mean the voltmeter on the bike, it is not very accurate. While it may indicate a lower than usual voltage, it is not telling us anything helpful! It is a bit like a warning light - when it comes on all it tells us is that the bulb works. Now we need to do some inspection to see if there really is a problem and identify what it is.

Check to ensure battery cable cleanliness and tightness. A bad battery, with a shorted or bad cell, can cause these issues as well. I agree with Mr. Brown that you would need to make some voltage measurements at specific points before diagnosing the problem.

Hope you can find the issue.

if those warning lights came on the ECU has set a code (or multiple in my case) - it'll help to know them...

I think that your battery might be the problem. Sometimes they go like a light bulb. Not surprised you'll see only 11 volts if the battery is shot.

Brand new battery?
And it works fine to start the bike. There are no indications except the trouble lights and the volt meter.
How do I find out the code?

Because few voltage regulators in those years failed doesn't mean that yours didn't. The one on my 08 began with a slow, intermittent failure mode. The battery light on once in a while, but became more frequent. If that is what you need, get ready to "bend over', the Harley units run around $250. I am having good luck with an after market unit which is supposed to go easier on the stator, got it through a local indy. When I remember the name, I'll post it and you can check it out for yourself.
