Will these work??
Setting here at work I had a lightbulb moment! Been thinking about mini apes for my 2009 FLHTCU and then recalled I removed a set from my 2002 FXDWG while doing some custom work on it. Does anyone know if the factory 02 FXDWG mini apes would be a good fit for the 09 FLHTCU? I just need the bars pulled back towards the rider a little, and I think these would do the trick. The factory FLHTCU bares are already laid low and when I recline on the open road I have to reach a tad to get to them. Thanks

What I think you mean is you have a set of mini-apes you took off your FXDWG. I would be surprised if they were intended for that model only. If you have a part number you may be able to check what other models they will fit - probably every Harley in the range! I'm guessing they are #56079-93. As you have them, it shouldn't take too long to find out if they will work....

Just got back from installing touring reach bars. Dealer said I wouldn't have to change any thing but bars and labor. Holy sh!! not true. First my grip on left side wouldn't come off ( new grips ). Then clutch cable to short, quote said it would work, didn't. That meant exhaust had to come off. 400 higher then I thought it would be. Only good thing is they are perfect for me. Just what the original thread is looking for . The exact problem I was having.
I think Harley dreams this stuff up, so we will buy stuff to fix the problem. I guess I'm dumb enough to do it. LOL

Wow, Thanks for the advice by all. I haven't had a chance to pull them down from storage and check them out, but if I need 18" to clear the pod, I'll know right away when I see them. I can't remember. And the fly by wire may be an issue for the right side, because the Dyna certainly doesn't have that feature.
