Default Hitches

I recently bought a liberty hitch from the usa trailer store for my 2007 ultra classic. I found the side supports that mount to the trim on the sides of the fender are a bit wider than the fender. It looks as though if I bolt it up as the installation instructions say to, it will pull the trim away from the fender.Has anyone else out there bought the same hitch, and did you mount it with the saddlebag guards to the inside of the hitch bracket and add any washers to compensate for the remaining gap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My hitch came from them and I dont remember any issues. I do seem to recall that the hitch went between the fender and the strut and it required some slight distortion during attachment. I think the fender has to go inward a little.

Smile 'bout the space

put a hitch doc on my 2005 ultra. Same gap. Added enough washers to fill in most of the space & tightened her up. Works fine.
