Default P0562 and sluggish starter

My starter at times sounds sluggish and maybe once a month I will get a P0562 low battery voltage code. I will reset the dtc and all will be well for another month or two. The battery is good, brand new. Had the same intermittant problem with the old battery. Charging system is working fine. Does this sound more like the starter relay or burnt contacts in the starter? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

smartest to check and clean the cable connections...on both ends of each cable.

brand new battery does not mean 'good battery' ( i have had batteries fail which were months old)

you could charge the battery with a charger ( not a tender) and load test at autozone.

while you are at it, loosen the starter bolts and retighten to ensure a good ground

these basic steps are free- and once you know that this is good- you can better find a fault if it still exists.

you can look at the starter;

burnt contacts in the starter solenoid, are usually brought on by low voltage.

easy fix.

if you hit the starter and hear whining- STOP.

this is the sound of the motor windings burning- again low voltage can bring this on

and you can look at the charging system depending on your findings

No whining. Almost like a high compression stroke and then it takes off. Like it had a compression release kit in it.

Found the problem. High resistance between the main contacts of the starter relay. Swapped relays with the brake relay and problem solved. Hope this helps someone else.
