Cheaper systems than BOOM!
One definite mod id like to make over the winter, or early next season is addition of speakers.
I dont know a lot about it, other than HD sells Boom! and everyone seems to love it.
But i do see other systems out there for a lot less, im wondering if anyone had experience and can recommend one? Or is it advised to stick with Boom!

Post this in the audio section for a better response. There are several knowledgeable members who offer excellent advice ( "Ultra Nutz" and "Glacier Pearl" ) ... You might want to wait a bit for the dust to settle on the 2014 models ... Good Luck with your mods!
Look at the Titan II upgrade at biketronics.com They're good ones, and they have a lifetime warranty. If one blows, they'll replace it. I've had them, and they're nice. If I didn't have the JL Audio expensive stereo that I have now, and just wanted speakers & an amp, I'd have those Titans again. (Make sure you do an amp with the speakers, for the best sound.)
6.5 Speaker adapters $42
Fosagate amp $132
Polk 6.5 $126

If ya want to put speakers on your Road King it would either be bag speakers or some kind of clamp on housing (unless ya are doing a fairing). CVO lids and some good (Polk/Pioneer/Titan) 6x9s with a RF amp would be my choice. Some guys have put speakers in spotlight pods with good luck too but I think they look goofy???
Depends on what you want to do with it.
If you want something that sounds and looks good, like it's made for the bike then Boom Audio is the way to go. I've got the fairing speakers and I think they sound great. Definitely are louder and sound better than stock. I'm adding the saddlebag speaker kit this winter. I'm going to try it without an amp first and see how I like it.
If you want everyone on the block to here you then you will have to go with something with bigger speakers and more power than the Boom speakers.
