Default Is Cycle Trader Worth The Effort

Selling my 08 ULTRA, currently using Craig's List, only one response so far. Asking if anyone has had any luck with listing on Auto Trader or any other online marketing portal.

This one?

If so, priced a bit high imo.
Don't ever mention you bought a new motorcycle. That means you are in distress and need to sell. Implies something is wrong with the old bike.

NO. The on-line "For Sale" venues aren't worth the effort. Been there; done that.

Craig's List is a viable option, if you're not in a hurry. Ebay is good, if your bike is popular, clean and priced right (remember that Buyers may have to ship, which adds $$$ to their bottom line). Your local Classifieds is better still.

Regardless of the venue, be aware that we're now moving into a Buyer's market, i.e., off season. Buyers will not be so ready to part with their cash.

Good luck with your sale.

I've used Auto Trader for years. Both for buying and selling.

In the last 2 years, I sold a truck in 3 weeks, a car in 5 weeks (it was a vette and I was asking high dollar) and I put my Heritage up for sale, got a decent offer, refused the offer, and promptly cancelled the add.... realized I didn't want to sell it...

While I've had good luck with the Auto Trader magazines, I also put the truck on Craig's list... I got three really weird calls, one was a scam... I found myself wondering if any "normal" people read Craig's List...

Good luck...

I have had good luck with 4 wheeled vehicles on Craigslist.
A phone conversation can filter the freaks out of the mix.

I've had great success with both cycletrader and autotrader. I've used also ebay and CL, but have always gotten a buyer from the Traders. But no matter where you advertise, you need to price it realistically.

Yes that's the one, thanks for the tip on the new bike comment, and socializing my bike, maybe an interested party out of this area-
Interesting comment on pricing, I'm asking $1k over dealer offer, in hindsight should have took the dealer trade in offer. Anyway will wait til spring and see what happens. What are you looking at fair price?

I've sold 3 HD's using Hogs4sale.com, flat fee for listing till it sells. Craigslist would be the last place too many flakes
