Not happy with HD after 30 years

As a matter of fact, yes - I expect them to do the R & D and QC before it hits the market. If they put out a product that fails, then promises to pay should lack integrity as well....

For those of us who suffered thru the AMF years everything seems smooth compared to that. Post AMF that is when I found out about how much Harley cares. Jacked up prices, shop rates, slow delivery, and the list goes on. I waited 3 months back then and was told when Harley sprays the color I ordered; they would ship it!
Sorry to hear your bad experience. At least in Vegas you have a choice of two dealerships?
On the other hand I doubt there are any metric corporate heads saying "I wonder how Mark's doing down there in MO. maybe I should give him a call". :-)

I have been riding Harley's for more than 25 years. Purchased 11 new bikes. I have also learned that past history means something to the dealer but not much to HD...I have a 14 Limited that I truly feel is the best Harley touring bike ever. No comparison to my previous 07 CVO Ultra. .... Now comes that dreaded "BUT". she leaked at 80 miles, again at 300 (the dealer replaced darn near every cooling system part this time) and I figured I had to be good to go.....at 1,200 miles she did it again and this time the leak was the biggest todate. My dealer is doing everything Harley tells them to do, I just worry about the future. If the system can work perfect for 900 miles and then fail, what does that mean? Will it go 3,000 miles next time and then fail? I really don't know.
What we need is a "REAL" fix. Like the clutch fix. One that puts the problem in the rear view mirror. If our twin cooled system will leak due to the slightest imperfection we will be dealing with issues for a long, long time. It is not acceptable to require special shut down procedures. It is not acceptable to keep replacing parts, only to have it fail again. I am on my third coolant tank and third radiator cap. All within 1,200 miles.
I think we have a design flaw; the factory design should be able to work correctly without having each and every component 100% on spec. What if 10,000 miles down the road your radiator cap looses a half of pound pressure? What if a little bit of air gets into the system. Will each and every issue casue a failure?
As I said before, love the bike; just want to ride long distance without wondering if the cooling system is going to fail. Lets hope for the best
