Harmon Kardon blank screen
Harmon Kardon blank screen I have a 2006 Ultra Black Cherry when I started up my bike first thing in the morning the LCD screen is blank. After a while I guess it warms up and I can see the screen. I was just wounding it this normal.
My 06 did the same thing. Was due to water intrusion in that wonderfully crafted touring radio. I ride daily andthe factorytouring radio wasn't exactly built for touring in the rain. Radio continued to work, but no LCD. Factory replaced with refurbished model. 1st thing I did was run a bead of silicon around LCDface place. It's been a month and LCD isn't showing signs of water, like the 1st one did after 2nd or 3rd time in the rain. Once warranty runs out and if radio dies again, I'm going with a Biketronics/Sony unit so I can also replace speakerswithout spending fortune on specialty speakers for the HK unit. I can purchase better quality 4ohm water proof speakers for 1/2 of what some want for their 2ohm models. Well, that and the fact that the biketronics setup cost 1/2 of the price of the HK unit from the factory.
Mine had the same problem, but after riding in the rain. Eevn thenthedisplay faded out.
Took it to the dealer and the complete radio was replaced under warranty. The new radio looks and functions better than than the first.

Only the black cherry ones do it...lol sorry could not resist...
I had same problem with mine after washing the bike. screen was gone for a day, but finally came back. Sucks to have a touring bike with a radio thats not sealed to the weather... I've only had my roadglide since November, haven't ridden in hard rain yet or even parked it outside in a hard rain, but both are inevitable for this summer... my fingers are crossed it doesn't happen again but it prolly will.

I think MOCO sent my dealer a refirb from an 03 or older. It works great but the face and buttons have that weathered look. I really don't care as I never turn it on except to reset the clock. As for rain, I haven't found that to cause a problem and I've been through some heavy stuff. Keeping the speed above 75 keeps me and the equipment dry.
