Are you getting a loan through HD? The Bank? If you can afford to borrow another $1,000-$??? take the money and hide it for a month. Once you've spent time on this forum and donea little more research start shopping at discount supply stores. I'll guarantee that you'll stretch the money a lot further than if youbought them from the dealer and paid him for the installation. I"m talking about chrome, seats and other items that you can put on yourself.

I've made a lotof purchases through M & M Cycles and saved a bit of money doing it. The extra saving translated into one or twomore items.

And by the way, congrats on the new Road King Classic.

Ride safe.

me too--thought I wanted that shet, put it on two many style directions. Sold most of it on eBay for a lot less than what I paid---but my garage is somewhat clean.

thats tuff,,,, ya want deals,, ya want to make it your own,, and ya wanna save some coin,,,,
but what I found,,, impulse purchases are sometimes a waste of $,,, eg, dont fit, uncomffy,
dont look good, found better,, etc...
sit back,,, think about what ya want, research,,, discuss,,,, then buy
unless the $ is fallin out of your pockets,,, then go nutz!! lol
I agree with ya Rick. I made several impulse purchases via dealer and the net and still have quite a few still in the package in my garage that I may never use.

sgnden: Get the bike and then ride it a bit. Look around on the net and forum at different members bikes and go from there. Take your time and enjoy the bike first and the add on's will come to you in time. Dont add things that everyone else has. Look around on the web and find some custom items. I think you will be much happier going that route IMHO. The dealer isnt going anywhere and will be there when you get the weekend itch to ride over there and pick up your weekly fix of chrome. Start thinking of the white lie now for the wife and why you sent $100 on valve stem caps!

Chrome front end kit and chrome inner primary are my too choices. It sucks taking it back to the dealer or dealing with the down time while the items get changed out. JMO

I added the billet adjustable highway pegs and the passenger backrest to my Street Glide when I bought it. I used both immediately. I would add whatever "functional" accessories you feel like you may need now then do the other "cosmetic" things later as time and budget allows. If I had bought the Chrome front end for my bike at the dealer when I bought my bike it would have cost me $1K extra. I waited and found deals on Ebay and I have less than 250 invested in it. Of course I "had" to do the install but it was easy enough and saved me a ton.

Whiskers - Thanks, your bike is set-up perfectly IMHO. I am not a fan of the fishtail ends...but that's a good thing of course...none of us want to be be cloned. Beautiful job, man!

Is that a Mustang Solo on there? What do you do when going 2-up? R&R w/ diff set-up or add the pillion?

I am going to finance part of the bike purchase...through Navy Federal Credit Union. I won't finance anything "extra" but I will prob get the HD quick release luggage Rack and sissy bar then just start a little side account for pipes, seat, chrome, etc.

I had better get my butt in gear and get the bike! I'm talking too much and riding too little! (of course a flippin Nor'Easter nailed us last night!).

At the time of purchase, I negotiated a 20% discount on the add's/mod's that I knew I was going to make. SE air cleaner, Rush pipes, HD Tallboy seat, HD grips, detachable Tour Pak and related hardware, and windshield bag. The mod's totalled about $1,600 retail, the discount was over $300. Installed all of them myself, so I saved some serious smack there too.

Also worked in a coupon for a 20% discount on the 1,000 mile service. Worth about $50. Every little bit helps.

The very first thing I replaced on my FLHRC was the seat.
Hadn't thought about it when I picked it up from dealer, but after the first day riding I was on here that night researching Solo Seats (I mainly ride solo, occasionaly with the wife which I have a pillion and backrest).
The stock seat leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe you could work in a seat deal on the purchase. Wish I had.
I had also worked in the usual chrome goodies as part of the purchase: chrome front-end; chrome switch housings/buttons; braided lines; beach bars with internal wiring.

Best of Luck in any case.
