Chrome and Stuff
Hello -
What would you recommend as "add-ons" AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE when I go get my RKC? Like, is the H.D. backrest and rack the way to go (fit and finish) vs. aftermarket...etc.
That is, items that H.D. produces that I ought to wrap into my deal at purchase (likely discounted if I make em part of my deal, I imagine). Or will I find everything I want in high quality aftermarket goods to add after the basci purchase?
Thanks!

sgnden: Get the bike and then ride it a bit. Look around on the net and forum at different members bikes and go from there. Take your time and enjoy the bike first and the add on's will come to you in time. Dont add things that everyone else has. Look around on the web and find some custom items. I think you will be much happier going that route IMHO. The dealer isnt going anywhere and will be there when you get the weekend itch to ride over there and pick up your weekly fix of chrome. Start thinking of the white lie now for the wife and why you sent $100 on valve stem caps!

Good advice, Onlythebest!
I was thinking that if there were a few things that HD produces that are "no brainers" quality-wise that I'd end-up getting at the dealer anyway...I'd wrap em in the deal.
But I don't want to be a arm-chair modifier...and just have eveyrthing slammed on there at the dealer. I'd prefer to ride bone-stock for a bit then I'll really see/feel the diff. I am sure I'll get carried away soon enough.
Thanks.

Have to agree with Electririck on this.LOL
Except, that if you plan on riding a passenger there is no real aftermarket backrest and/or rack that compares to hd's stuff, plus with the detachable feature its a click to put on and off. You would not go wrong buying and having it done before pickup, just take wife if thats who you plan on riding
in and get help to pick out the right hieght and style of backrest and pad that feels best.

I agree with the above post however I like the Corbin Seat with the removable back rest. You can always buy HD stuff on line and save 20% also ebay is a good area for savings. Look around at the other bikes you see, sit on seats at the dealer and swap meets, ask questions and take your time to make it yours. I to have a few chrome items on the shelf that I have not put on and wonder why I purchased them. ENJOY
That's the nice thing about not being married...multiple choice body types for the backrest fit exercise! Maybe I'll bring 3 or 4 women in for the fit...I do know some like vibration in certian spots a bit more than others...<ahem>.
Now if I can only keep my bank account from draining into my ex's...the sweetheart she is. Uh huh.
