Be patient and it will completely close the gap.

+1. here are some pictures of mine. Gap is completely closed. Only thing I don't like is that you can see the screw from the side if you are low enough.

Another thing that I found helps is if you have a plastic squeeze clamp that you can use to help pull the ring together so your not just tightening it with the screw.

I tried that one but couldn't get it to work. Did you put it on without the top tab, the wire that was in the package you had to put in? That's the only way I could get it on, but it moved around.

I had the same question. How do you install the custom chrome visor ring? The package had a wire piece and no instructions. I haven't even tired it yet.

I'm guessing he put it on without the wire tab. It's the only way I could get it on but it just flopped around without the tab to hold it in place. I thought it pretty much sucked and chunked it and got the HD visor and had it powder coated. That's the last time I'm gonna get a non HD part. Not a big fan of marking something work to save a couple bucks.

Ahhhh believe that beings how you changed your headlight that the frenched ring will fit perfectly.

However, if you try to use the frenched ring on stock headlight, that is where you have issues and that big ugly gap that most get.

I used the wire tab on the top. I wasn't easy and took a lot of "convincing" to get it on there. I did have to bend it to open up at little bit in the middle to make it go on there.

The only issue I am having with it is that I can't get the screw hole at the bottom to line up. It fits snug without it but I know it will vibrate loose eventually.

I'm having a hell of a time getting my HD visor trim ring on. I stripped the screw head trying to get it on. I even dremeled the screw head and used a flat head. I've got to now get a new screw. Tried numerous times but still get a huge gap at the bottom of the visor and the headlight seems sunken in the visor. Is the visor supposed to slip all the way down into the headlight area or just the stock retaining ring?

There's only 3 steps. Loosen stock ring. Place visor over ring, tighten stock ring. Tighten visor. Seems HD likes to keep their instructions vague. Most of the metrics I've wrenched on have very detailed instructions. I've been wrenching on bikes for over 20 years.

First Harley though. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I've put on my riders back rest and passenger grab rails with no issues though. But can't get rid of the big *** gap at the bottom of the visor ring.
