Default Indy hates my Super E

Hello

I just bought a 99 FLHR and it came with a Super E carb Brand new

Taking my bike to have some work done Going to install a set of Fueling Reapers Cams 543's

My guy just bashed that carb He wants to sale me a CV42 carb for 300$

Part of me agrees with him on the S&S carb as I ride around with a screwdriver always messn with it

What do you all think

His reason just alot easier to tune

Find yourself a new mechanic..... Preferably one that knows how to tune a carb.

And stop messing with it yourself! I've had it's big brother a G for several years now and apart from a minor tweak on the dyno it's been fine so far. Throwing away a new E for another carb is lining your indy's pocket, but doing you no favours. The two carbs have almost identical features as far as tuning is concerned - they are both simple. I agree with Oldskewl.

a super E is an upgrade from a CV carb. No way I would trade, let alone pay for a CV when I had an E. that's crazy.

Agree, find another wrench to work on the bike. Once tuned properly, the Super E requires nothing but a quick right wrist to make it's point

That's probably because you're a relative novice, like most of us, and why you need someone who's going to put his heart into getting the darned thing right! Once there you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Not sayin you're wrong... and who knows, maybe your particular super e has something goin on, but seriously, that carb is pretty much the standard when it comes to stock carb replacement. If you do a stout build, then a G becomes the standard. the "Supers" are outstanding carbs.
