Chopped tour pak lid cracked with aftermarket backrest
#11
If it is the corbin backrest with armrest the armrest sticks out further than stock. A passenger will get on the bike and put pressure on the armrest. Because it sticks out further there is more leverage on the mounting hardware. This can cause a crack. I don't know if this is what happened to you but it can happen.

Just a suggestion (like you asked), and because there a lot cheaper than OEM and are practically the same thing. Mines going on 4 years with no cracks!
I guess another suggestion if the dealer will not fix yours would be to find a good used OEM top and have it painted?
If the dealer doesn't fix yours are you planning on buying another OEM top and using that, wonder how long that one will last? Must be some way to reinforce were your cracks developing.
Here's my Matzu King tour after 4 yrs, This is loaded down riding two up on a 6800 mile camping road trip. No issues.
