Default new, need help

I'm going tomorrow to look at a 2011 street glide, I'm not new to motorcycles but this would be my first Harley, anything I should pay special attention to while checking it out

Not really any "special" problems with '11.

Listen to the engine and check the drive belt and tires. Other than that it's all cosmetic. Hope you like the bike and it's as advertised. You won't be disappointed with the glide. 96 or 103?

Default Service records

I own a 2012 Street Glide with 33k miles and have no complaints. I would check and verify the service records to show it's been kept up. Make sure it rides straight. Careful of too many modifications that may lead to problems later if not done properly. Wouldn't hurt to have an HD mechanic look it over for a price. Could be worth it in the long run. Good luck.

Cool buy from a dealer!

i love used bikes! if a dealer has the used bike, he should know the problems! if you look at a private party bike, tell them you are going to have a harley dealer inspect it! a dealer inspection of a used bike is the only way to go! if you're going to buy used , get an inspection! cheers from montana

Look up the NADA/KBB/Edmunds average wholesale and retail values (based upon make/model/mileage/options) and take that information with you to see the bike. Don't overpay for the bike. A dealer does not give trade-in allowances for accessories and other options; neither should you.

Don't talk price until AFTER your walk-around and test ride. If you still like the bike after your test ride, start at a mid-point between average wholesale and average retail, but pay no more than average retail.

I MAY be too late, but ask if you can ride it, too. Let me explain.

Listening to the motor run at idle gives you a chance to do a quick walk-around and note any strange noises, fluid leaks, general condition and assess any add-ons.

Riding it will let you know if the clutch, transmission and motor are in proper working order, if the bike rides straight and true, if the throttle/clutch/brakes/instrumentation/lighting are fully functioning, and finally, you'll get an idea of how the FLHX fits YOU (that is, will you need a new seat or handlebars to be comfortable). If the bike will need modifications to make it work for you, then you'll have to figure how much it will cost to get you there - and will it still be within your budget when you do!

Good luck! I love my FLHX.
