I have a 99 RKC and yesterday while riding the guy behind me says my brake light appears to be stuck on. We stopped and that seems to be the case. Got home looked at the bulb appears normal. Looked in my service manual but couldn't find anywhere it talks about the brake light adjustment or troubleshooting. Anyone out there got any ideas before I have to roll to the dealer?
EDIT - Sorry Mac Daddy. My slow typing stepped on your toes.
Most commons issue is brake light switch in right side handlebar switch housing. Happens frequently when switch housing and brake lever are messed with and brake handle isn't depressed or wedged away from switch plunger. Do any work to the right side of the bars?

I agree w/ the right side brake handle. Most people don't know, but it is a normally closed switch. After many cycles it can have issues and if you troubleshoot it as a normally open switch, you will swear it is OK and not realize you have a problem. That's where I would start.
or even a shorted wire going to it. Easy way to test is to remove the two wires going to the solenoid at front of the rear master cylinder, 'inside' of the rear brake pedal. If the light goes out, it's the solenoid. Touch the wires together, with ignition on, and it should turn the brake light on again.
Had new mini apes put on about eight months ago with internal wiring in the fat bars. No one up till yesterday has let me know I had a brake light issue so I have to assume it just started.
thats what mine is, is in the handlebar...its sticking from sitting all winter...also my levers are sloppy, according to HD...(and of course they can sell me new everything)
