Default Going gear drive, what cams?

Hey all, am converting to gear drive and cant keep my SE204 cams, was thinking about Andrews 37G cams but am open to all suggestions.
I ride on the highway a lot, trips with the wife, not much stop and go in city traffic, I also do have a 34 tooth drive pulley on it to reduce highway RPM's, thanks for all replies.

How about getting new shoes, keeping the cam and some head work. Up the compression, valve job,new guides and a mild port job would give you a nice boost in pwer.......

Any reason you're going to gear drive?

Can one really say they're going with gear driven cams before you break into the bike and check the runout?

Technically, no.....but he's a got a '99 so I'm betting there won't be a problem with forged crank and Timken lefty. As for the cam, depends on what you're looking for and your riding style. I was happy with a 26G in my 04, likes 9.5:1

I lost a rear cam bearing last summer, which lead to my most recent engine rebuild. Teflon shoes designed to rub on a chain and wear out on purpose has never seemed like a valid solution (to me) to keeping slop out of something as critical as cam timing. I know...it's been in our primary chain system for many years, but inspecting and servicing that area is plenty simple. Getting into where the cam chain tensioners are is not as easy. Plus, I've always been of the opinion that every link in a chain is a potential failure spot. So, I was adamant to go gear drive with this build. Feuling cam plate and oil pump plus S&S easy start cams. Some sweet head work by Steve at GMR Performance in Ft. Worth and I'm running ~120 squared off the dyno. Bonus...I'll never have to wonder if my tensioners are wearing out. Just my humble 2 cents worth.

Last year I put an Andrews 57 in my 01 with the intent of doing a 95" build. That build should be done within the next month or so and can't wait!!!

I put 21"s in the 02 when I went to gears.

Kinda wishing now that I would have gone 26's. 37's do need more C/R, but will work.

Do the 26's, you will be happy and forever forget about cam shoes.

My $0.02
