Going gear drive, what cams?
Hey all, am converting to gear drive and cant keep my SE204 cams, was thinking about Andrews 37G cams but am open to all suggestions.
I ride on the highway a lot, trips with the wife, not much stop and go in city traffic, I also do have a 34 tooth drive pulley on it to reduce highway RPM's, thanks for all replies.

Technically, no.....but he's a got a '99 so I'm betting there won't be a problem with forged crank and Timken lefty. As for the cam, depends on what you're looking for and your riding style. I was happy with a 26G in my 04, likes 9.5:1

I lost a rear cam bearing last summer, which lead to my most recent engine rebuild. Teflon shoes designed to rub on a chain and wear out on purpose has never seemed like a valid solution (to me) to keeping slop out of something as critical as cam timing. I know...it's been in our primary chain system for many years, but inspecting and servicing that area is plenty simple. Getting into where the cam chain tensioners are is not as easy. Plus, I've always been of the opinion that every link in a chain is a potential failure spot. So, I was adamant to go gear drive with this build. Feuling cam plate and oil pump plus S&S easy start cams. Some sweet head work by Steve at GMR Performance in Ft. Worth and I'm running ~120 squared off the dyno. Bonus...I'll never have to wonder if my tensioners are wearing out. Just my humble 2 cents worth.
