Default Why would a front tire wear faster?

Why would the front tire of my 2012 FLHX wear faster than the rear tire? Today I had the state bike inspection done. Rear tire is great! Guy says probably gonna get another 8-10 k miles. Looked at my front tire stated it will be my last season or maybe sooner? Just clocked 11k miles today on the stock Duncraps?

Incorrect pressure, softer compound, lots of slow speed riding?

braking

the rear tire we have is a dual compound, hard in the center of the tread for wear, softer on the sides for cornering

the front tire takes on more than 65% of the braking.

this indicates you are doing something right.

..walking thru a bike night, I'll see lots of rides with bald rear tires from the guys who think they'll go over the bars if they use the front brake.

Try the Michelin commanders . I love them got 16k on both front and rear and could have gotten a couple more . They also handle better than most .

I just bought a Street Glide with 10,000 miles on it . The back tire is new and the front tire needs replaced now . No reason why the guy only replaced the rear ?

Default front tire

If you want a longer lasting front tire, replace it with a Bridgestone BT45. It's a dual compound tire. It handles real well.

There's just one thing that may make you stay away from it. It says for rear use only on it.

I got 21K out of my last one.

I really don't use the rear brake much mostly for slow speed parking lot manuvers. I guess its because of the front brake does the majority of the braking with downshifting.

I have 20k on my 2012 Limited and still have the original front tire on. I replaced my rear tire before my Daytona trip this March with 13k on it. I could have gotten another 3k out of it. I used an American Elite on the rear an will do the same for the front.

Duncraps? Hardly. The current D408/D407 are some of the longest wearing tires you can put on a Harley. It's common to see 20k miles from both front and rear. I've got just under 19k on my original tires and have about 3k remaining on the front and 5k on the back before the warning bars.
