how long does it take???
I have my 12 SG at local dealer cause it started running rough and sputtering on my last road trip, dealer comes back and says its probably a map sensor.
they are warranting the issue, but first the service tech said it would take a day or so to get the part in. I called on the second day and the same tech said it would take 7 to 10 days to get the part from harley. WTF?
Have you guys had the same issue, I'd think since this is a common issue that the dealership would stock plenty of these?
thoughts?
should I get all over this servce guy to get it back sooner?
thanks

Do you have another dealer "nearby" you can call that may have one in stock? It might be worth the ride if you can get it done sooner than later. The bigger issue may be getting an appointment to get it in now that it's prime riding season.
Its not the lack of parts availablity that's causing the hold up. Your warranty job doesn't pay what "customer pay" jobs pay. They must have an abundance of customer pay jobs so yours gets pushed to the back. Instead of telling you that, they say they can't get the part. I'll bet you can get on the internet right now and have a MAP sensor shipped to your house in 2 days.
It is what it is.

I would sit down to a "Face to face" with the service manager, and if needed, the dealership GM or owner. NOW!
"Demand a loaner bike while they are waiting on parts" should be in your pocket to whip out if you don't like the overall vibes...

Sometimes warranty pays more than walk in labor rates, and pays the dealer profit on the parts. I work for a vehicle maufacturer dealer, and you would be amazed at the parts that are not available at a dealership level, or the PDC level. The actual parts manufacturers can't or won't keep up with demand. And lastly, "Demand a loaner bike" Bwaahahahaha.. Good luck with that.
