Had a Sportie with a DFT kit a few years ago. The trunk is very similar to the FW. The cable release was going bad and I put a electric release on it. While I was at it I ran a cord from the release out thru the fender, just in case. Just about had to stand on my head to reach it. Never had to use it but I would check it from time to time.

 

Did you ever get this opened up?

 

Made an appointment and took it in to the Harley dealer, they called the factory and the factory sent out a new latch and new lock mechanism, they would not attempt to open it until they got the new parts, took two weeks to get the parts, they got it open today and installed the new parts, is operational again!
