Mine was latched shut and would not open. I could feel resistance on the lock when i turned it. I turned the lock and smacked the latch area with the palm of my hand hard and the lid popped open. I found the latch mechanism was loose and missing a bolt. Found bolt in trunk and replaced with loctite. 4 MM allen to tighten.
