Default Binding cable

I did a search and really didn't find anything close to matching my inquiry.

Anyhow, I noticed that whenever I have the front wheel turned to the extreme right the throttle sticks... Now mind you this isn't something anyone would normally do traveling down the highway and it's not really a big problem. It's more of thing that happens when back walking a bike into tight parking space.

I see where the problem is but I never noticed it before? I've had the Kurakyn neck cover on there for a number of years. It seems to be where the cables exit out of the cover and whenever the wheel is positioned to the extreme right, the calbe binds. Move it back to the left an inch or two and snap the cable releases and operates as it should...

I guess the question is does the throttle cable stick on other bikes when the wheel is in the extreme right position, with or without a neck cover? And is this a problem I should worry about?

I had the same problem when I changed cables on my springer. What i did was went to ace hardware picked up a black rubber bumper and glued it to the factory bump stop location. Cant see it unless youre looking for it. I was pinching my new black pearl cables, NOT GOOD, and i figured it would damage them over time. Quick and easy fix and allows just enough room so they dont get smashed. Worked for me but im not sure it itll work for you.

Thanks,

Yep like I said the cable itself isn't sticking, it's only whe the wheel is the extreme right postion. I can see that the neck cover is causing the cable to bend back on itself nearly, thus causing the bind... Now, as I said this is one of those weird situations. Only in walking the bike would anyone ever really have the wheel in such extremes positions. In normal operation one would never turn the wheel to such absurd turning radius.

Yea, I can see it wearing on the inner cable within it's sheath over time. However, I don't really see much of a fix other than removing the neck cover entirely. The brake line, triple tree don't provide much room to keep the cable from getting binded in such extreme postioning?

Agreed.
I'm wondering if you could use a dremel to cut a cut a notch on the cover to allow the free movement needed? Then glue some small rubber trim to the cut edge.

Bare metal=rust. Paint the cut edge=no rust. Next.

Well I guess I could have stated to clear coat the cut after. The trim would serve two purposes. Hide the cut and reduce the chance of the cables getting cut if any rough edges were left.
