2009 electrical short list - won't start
Widow friend of my mother. She likes riding her late husband's tri-glide. It was running fine a few weeks ago. Had it parked on a tender. Just clicked and wouldn't start. They thought battery, so put a new battery in. Nothing. Took the battery to have it tested and see if it was a lemon. Battery is fine.
She says it has the security system on it and they've always kept the fob in the tour pack. I'm thinking a bad ground or relay. If it's much beyond what I can check out with simple tools and my voltmeter, I'll just say sorry and move on. Anything those experienced with these models would recommend to add to the short list of checks before I tell her to take it somewhere? Operator error? Doesn't the thing reverse off the starter?

Don't overlook the simple stuff.
Replace the batter fob as previously suggested.
When the ignition is turned on do the lights on the trike come on?
With the ignition switch turned on does the fuel pump activate when you turn the "kill switch" to on ?
If all of these check out and you know that you have POWER, I'd check to make sure that the battery GROUND cable at the frame is clean and tight before moving on.

Just closing the loop.
I got to her house and put the battery back in. It fired right up. They used to store the fob in the tour pack in the garage. She had taken that inside. So battery out and fob away from the system was enough. Still we changed the battery on the fob. I hate problems that just magically go away, but she's happy.
