Default Will Harley Make an Upgrade Kit of Their New Suspension?

I have a 2022 CVO Tri-Glide and when I compare it to the 2026 Street Glide 3, I only like the new suspension. If possible, I wonder if Harley will come out with an upgrade kit to their new suspension for prior year Tri-Glides?

I would guess not they want you to buy a new one.

Yes, but they could make additional sales to people like me who just want their suspension and keep their existing Tri-Glide since they like it's features better than the more expensive new model.

I"m sure they will make very part that is under the new trikes.. Problem is will it fit the older frames ?
Don't know is anything has changed on the newer frames. Time to start comparing part numbers.

If you want better suspension go aftermarket. Several companies seem to already have it figured out for the older trikes. Pro Action and DK Customs to name a couple.

Yes, I have the DK Custom NexGen shocks that made me want to keep the CVO - a world's difference. I saw the DK Custom video where they compared the 26 to earlier stock models and one with NexGen. Kevin stated the OEM as terrible, NexGen an 8 and the new 26 suspension a 9, but probably not worth the $$ just for the suspension. Kevin said DK will be making a NexGen for the 26 which will make it even better.

Norske,

The older Tri-Glides have a totally different rear main frame. There really is no swingarm anymore and the differential is now frame mounted and not axle mounted like on the Tri-Glides. The Tri-Glide does NOT allow any type of twisting motion like the new de-Dion suspension allows. That's why the BEST OF THE BEST DK Customs mods will still not equal the new stock Street Glide 3 Limited's ride. It's just new engineering.

Sorry to say, if you want the new ride, trade for the new trike. There is of course, the conversions available to the Tri-Glides and they will ride better than your older Tri-Glide design. But the jury is still out on cornering lean angles between the IRS and de-Dion setup.

I've said that before, I think given the options HD had, full IRS versus the de-Dion suspension, I'm with HD on their choice. It has MANY less wear parts and is much less complicated. AND it gives a very good ride! There will always be a high side lean angle in sharper curves with either type of suspension, IRS or de-Dion. If you add stiffer sway bars to reduce body roll, it also stiffens the connection between the rear wheels and you will lose some of the independent motion from side to side.

If you have all that DK Customs offers in lift kits and shocks, you're going to be the best you can get on YOUR trike. No lift kit or shock setup on a solid non-articulating solid axle will give you a better ride to match the new SG3L trikes.

Good luck with your journey for a better ride.

I really don't understand the obsession some folks have with the ride of a Tri-Glide. A friend and I did 200 miles of mostly back roads Sunday and not once did I think my Tri-Glide was rough riding. And I like the way it looks with factory ride height. I've never been real sensitive about the ride on a motorcycle except for the way it handled I will admit. Speaking of that, a lot of the changes in suspension on the Tri-Glide that folks do like rake are actually going to hurt handling. Each to there own I guess and I suppose the new trikes probably do ride a bit better but it would be marginal I think, I'm happy with what I have.

It might be possible, but I can't even see it being worth it. There is a lot to the suspension, can't see it being any kind of bolt on. So then you go further... Seems to me it's more likely you could replace everything... The whole rear frame and suspension... But will your body bolt on? At some point it would be much much cheaper to sell yours and buy new.

But again... Is it worth it? My personal guess... I think IRS is always better than solid axle in general... But I think the bigger deal is 5" of travel. 3" is pretty ridiculous for a luxury ride you want in a trike.... But for all the money you are going to spend to get it... Plus you will be waiting a couple years if you want another CVO... I just can't see it being worth it. Better sure... $20k better? Ehhh....

Yes.
It will cost $45,000, and come with a new trike. 🤔😉
