Default Something positive about the 2010 TG

It seems slow around here today so I thought I would stir the pot a little & start a thread with something positive about the 2010 Triglides.
Harley finally got the transmissions corrected in the 2010 models with the helical cut fifth gear. Since the changeover from the five speed to the six speed in 2007, the straight faced fifth gear chatters like a can of rocks. In 2007, Harley denied the noise was there. Then, about the end of the model year they admitted the noise was there and they came out with a retro fit isolated drive sproket for the touring models. This became standard on the 2008 models & it did about half the job of ending the noise. The only real solution was, you guessed it, $2000 (for a Baker transmission).

You can most likely find something good if you are willing to look hard and long enough.

I can now back down my driveway when I couldn't do that safely with my Road Glide. The negative is that I have to get my car OUT of the driveway because there is no room to get past it!

Default Good Thing about the 2010 Tri

Well, let me see! It's paid for and not near as hot as it used to be!

All the geezer glide, Harley Hoveround jokes are about over!

I don't drop near as much as I used to!

But not near as much fun as a side car, can't detach at 65 when the ol lady gets to ragging on me! Of course she may say this is a good thing

Turn that into a positive by widening your drive way.

The 07-09 year trans noise is a mixed bag some make it and some don't. I've ridden several 6 speed equipped bikes and some sounded like they were coming un-glued and some hardly made much if any noise. The biggest thing I found is being in the correct gear at the right time. When the 07's 1st came out I took a new Ultra out and found if you were in 5th gear at any speed below 55 mph it sounded like you tossed rocks in the trans.

Not sure you will have any heat problems in 38* weather. It's when it hits high 80's to 90's

You were joking about the "no heat problem" wern't you? Most of us are just talking about the hot summer months in slow or stop and go between lights conditions. In the wind with the right heat deflecters they are tolerable, in traffic on hot days are where most of my complaints come from.
