I have a new tach on my bike with an rpm guage the sell a separate wire for some models. where does the wire usually get it s signal from?

I've not done that tach but have added a separate tach to a 2002 RKC. If you can find the instructions, it will describe the connection. Typically you need to connect the pink wire to speedo. IIRC it runs to the headlight nacelle which where the police bikes wired in the tach. Look at the wiring diagram in the SM or pull it off of the HD service sight.

Doesn't the tach signal come from the yellow wire..? A wiring schematic would be very helpful here..

`99 the wire is pink , found unused in the harness that runs to the speedo.
