Don't disagree with Mr. Hotrod but I would be taking a look at the S&S 509 as well.
Ok, I saw that one mentioned as well. Thanks DJL, I knew you'd be around as well.
I have the stupid question I have to ask; With this cam plate being a hybrid, I'm guessing I can use the outer bearings for a 99-06 cam plate? I plan on changing the inners to the Koyo B-148's, but wasn't sure on the outers. Also, I'm guessing either cam will work with this cam plate? The reason I'm asking is because my mind is spinning around about conversion cams for this 88 and I was a little confused. Just want to make sure everything plays nice together.
The Andrews 21 vs the S&S 509 as the "go to" cam for the TC88 has been a subject of debate since the 509 came on the TC88 scene about 2007. I cannot opine on either since I have never run any "mouse" cams but would suggest taking a look at the 509 as wel; no disrespect to Mr. Hotrod.
Or should I just stick with the stock cams, since "mousey" is where all these cams are at anyway.

You can expect about 80TQ/90HP from the 509 with a good tune; not sure about the 21. Either will register on the "butt dyno; I am just partial to the 509.
Not a stupid question; plenty get confused between the 25282-11 and the 25The hybrid plate was designed as an "upgrade" to the '99-'06 twin cams; hydro tensioners and high capacity oil pump. You can use the outer '99-'06 outer bearings; any cam that fits the early cam plate can be run in the hybrid plate; chain or gear drive if available. '99-'01 models retain the outer "silent" link chain to retain the cam position sensor function, so while the hydro tensioners are an "upgrade", the tensioners ride on the link chain, not the roller. Not all bad news, you do get the high-capacity oil pump.

Thanks for the breakdown DJL. Putting a parts list today.
Hey everyone, been a couple of weeks now so wanted to give an update: I split the cases, pressed the flywheel out, and cleaned everything really good. Everything looks good other than normal wear. Installed the flywheel yesterday and did the cam bearings as well. Had .002 endplay with the flywheel. Going to be putting the halves back together today after I clean AGAIN the piston oilers and install. Also installed the new bearings in the new cam plate as well. Here are some photos:
Got the heads and cylinders back from WFO Larry, rings were shot. Going to start putting this all back together so stay tuned.
Ride safe!

Well interesting. I have a 2002 88 in a Electraglide Classic. Bike bike, NOT big motor. I bought at 78k. I now have 88K miles. The previous owner was super meticulous about scheduled maintence and work. EVERY oil change, brake pads, tires, spark plugs were written down. This was his daily work bike so he didnt care about HP or torque. The only thing I have done was changed the stator and rotor when went dead at 80k miles.
I'm getting ready to start doing some work on it. NOT so much for power, but for longevity.
I am doing the oilpump, plate, tensioner. Once I get that side open , I will fully inspect the cam. I have new lifters and pushrods.
Bearings will be replaced.
Not ready to tear down the top end.
That'll be next.
Wo what else should I look at while in the rigth side?
Hey everyone, sorry for the delay but was waiting on parts. Ordered up new S&S piston oilers, one of the stock ones was mucked up good and figured it would be best to get new ones due to the situation. Put the cases back together yesterday and mounted the lower end back into the frame. So far so good, moving along so stay tuned. Here are some pics:
