Default Need to pick your brain

I'm thinking of picking up another bike, this time a 2002 V-ROD for the WIFE. It has limited edition tins, vance and hines exhaust....not to sure about any other mods...I've had many bikes before and currently own an 08 FLHX...any do's or don'ts when lookin the bike over or test riding it? What about any known problems with them since it was their first year model? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

...there was something with the fuel-line... there's a factory fix for it...

other than that they were good... they didn't get the brembos 'till the 06 model year, so the brakes are typical HD crappy brakes... might want to switch to brembos. Also, the early models had taller gearing, that's an easy sproket change, depending on what type of riding she'll be doing.

...there were no "limited addition tins" on 02... so I'd be weary of that... on 03 there was a 100th anniversary addition... all the 02s were the exact same anodized aluminum.

The engine is and has always been bullet-proof.

solid disc wheels can cause wobbles if you're caught in a strong crosswind. check the sidestand bushings --when they wear out, the frame starts to get eaten up by the jiffy stand. the fuel gauge isn't reliable, use the trip meter to judge fuel stops

The 02-03 were plagued with a defective Fuel Flange along with a Small capacity Fuel Tank (3.7gallons with 3.2 usable) that was changed to 5 gallons in 07 on the A models

Considering Shoedude has over 100,000 miles on his 04, I guess there isn't much to worry about with the Revo. Just keep it over 3,000 rpm and it's happy.
