Hello New to the Forum
Hello,
New to the forum as well as Motorcycles. I am 50 years old, never riden before this weekend. I took the MSF Course and passed so now its time to find my first bike! I've looked at everything from the Yamaha, Honda's, to Harley's. A friend of mine sent me a picture of a Sportster they said I could get for $3500. I am going to go look at it...but really dont have any info on it as to year or mileage. Posted a picture of it on the Sportster forum. From what I understand, its an 883, was purchased for the guys wife and not riden too much. They want $3500....My thinking is....why not a Harley as a first bike! Anyway....I had a blast at the course....and realized one thing..I need LOT more parking lot time on a motorcycle!

RTod,
Depending on your size, a Sportster is a great Harley. If you are a larger person you might want to look at some good used Dynas or Softails. Make a trip to your local HD Dealer and sit on a few before you make a decision.
Oh Yeah,

Hello and welcome to the forum! Lots of knowledgeable people here to help you make a decision. Heck these guys helped me with the decision to by both mine and my husband's bikes.
RTod: Welcome to the forum! I am 52 and am now on my 4th motorcycle and 2nd Harley. My first Harley was an 883 and was a good "starter" for me to get back into the feel of riding. I rode back in the 70's and quit for 25 years then resumed 2 years ago and am glad I did. There are a lot of used Harley's out there so you may want to do some shopping around and definitely find a HD mechanic to check out any bike you decide is "the one". Hang around this forum as there is a wealth of knowledge here in many of the expereinced members who are real nice people. Good luck! KB
Welcome from Wisconsin.
