Welcome from Virginia. Sit on them all at a dealer and try them at a H-D Demo ride. Once you decide what you like and what fits, try to find a good used one within your price range.

Groetjes, welkom from Amsterdam. My OL started on an 883 Low Rider and within 5 months traded it in on a Dyna - loves it. But try 'em both out at the stealers. Good luck and enjoy

Your choice and your call ... A Sporty is a great Ride but I truly don't consider it a Learners Bike although if it's what you want go for it...

Hello and welcome to the forums from Georgia. A Sportster is a good bike, not too heavy. Might sit a little higher, but that's no big deal. Just pick out the one you like and go for it.

I started with a Super Glide Custom after looking at several HD models and talking to folks with experience that I respect. Don't listen to those who say that the Sporty is a "girls bike". Go with what is right for you.

Welcome from Staten Island, NY!!!

Default Welcome from So Cal!

I agree w/ Skootch and Ultra: you've gotta figure out a few things about your style to see if the 883 suits you. Just because it has HD's smallest displacement doesn't necessarily mean it'll be good to start out on for you.

You mention your budget is $10,000, if that is your top dollar then your only choice will be a sportster. There are 5 different models you can choose from. Harley Davidson has been making sportster for a very long time. I don't think you will go wrong with a sportster. Check out there web-site, the Nightster is a very cool looking bike, as well as all of the sportster's line.
Hope this helps. Continue to ask question.
