New rider - again
Hello from Coastal NC. I'm a new rider all over again. Back in 1994-ish, I bought a Honda CX500 on a whim and spent 2 or 3 summers driving it on learners permits. In fact the only instruction I had was which lever did what. If there's a mistake, I made it. I also had a blast.
I joined the Marine Corps, met my wife, started a family and soon that bike was just collecting dust while I moved to Japan, NC and Hawaii.
I spent the last year in Iraq talking to a couple of guys who ride. They got the itch going again. I took the wife to the local dealership (after spending 6 months drooling at the new models online) just to take a look. She suggested I sit on the wide glide and that was the end of it. Wound up buying it right there and picking it up a couple of days later.
This time however, I'm trying to do things a little smarter. Took the MSF course and found out how much I didn't know. I've been gathering info from anyone I know who rides and I'm working on not being the guy who just points his bike in the direction I want to go and hopes for the best.
Anyway, I've been on here for several months reading through the stories, mistakes, observations, tips and humor. I've been enjoying all of it, thanks. I just figured that it's about time I said hi. So... Hi.
