Bike developed a metallic/glass rattle to it that almost sounded like a coke bottle rolling on the cement. Got louder when coming to a stop and would quit as soon as bike stopped. Although the bike was running fine, it also developed an oil leak so that's when I decided to find the problem. Drained transmission oil and had metal dust in it. I had just recently replaced the compensator spring assembly and compensator slide cam which helped with the shifting but didn't take care of the rattle. Not until total disassembly did I find out where the rattle was coming from. The spacer between the transmission drive pulley and mainshaft bearing had worn into the mainshaft bearing and created the metal dust in the transmission. Once it wore about .03" off the spacer thickness, it started to free float on the shaft and created the metallic/glass rattle I was hearing. I replaced all the bearings and seals in the transmission along with the new spacer and transmission drive pulley. Bike has been running great since then. Read more ยป
