Decided to go with Phosphoric acid instead of Muriatic. Phosphoric is supposed to etch the steel less and less to less likelihood of flash rust.

Awesome decision not to use clamps right? Wrong. These immediately started leaking and I had to scramble for a solution. Zip-ties to the rescue!

Safety Third! But seriously. Wear gloves because this stuff burns.

Maybe throw in some safety glasses if you like being able to see.

First view after letting it stew for 3 hours. I can tell that it's working based in the small part of raw steel in the filler neck.

The acid isn't reaching the top of the tank since I can't completely seal the tank. I'm working on a solution

What a perfect fit. Leaf blower, meet gas tank.

After draining as much fluid out as possible, it was time to bust out the big guns.

After drying out the tank with the blower, it was time for everyone's favorite not-lubricant to do some work. In case anyone reading this doesn't know, the WD stands for water displacement.

After draining the phosphoric acid out, I neutralized the tank with a healthy amount of baking soda and water.

Only use grade 0000. It takes a little longer but the risk of scratching the paint or even some metal bits is way less.

Oh yeah. We've got power! And the power came with some great news: this bike only has 9600 miles on it? This may not be as bad as I thought...

...until I brought out the big guns. Obviously use the low setting and keep the heat source far enough away so that it doesn't melt the pipe.

As it sits. Don't mind my ghetto solution to keeping it upright. This was so the cylinders would soak evenly in the PB Blaster.

Lol. Kind of important to connect the plug wires after you reinstall them I guess.

This is the point where the brakes would begin to engage. Too close for my liking.

Point when brakes would start to engage... As you can see, this wasn't ideal.

Caliper removed. For future readers, the socket size is a metric one. 12pt 10mm to get the calipers off. Then a 12pt 1/4" for the pad pins. I'm sure this is common knowledge, but you never know who is reading.
