Default Favorite style LED turn signals...

I am thinking about upgrading to led brake light and turn signals, and am only aware of the kuryakyn signals. What other signals are cool? What would you get? Does your little brother ask you questions like this?

To me money well spent, too others, rather put the money to something shiny, read chrome, other than I think kuryakyn brand is mostly junk I would look somewhere different, I seen "that brand" on the back of a RK in the "daylight with sun" couldn’t tell much the differents between the run and rear brake light, sucked big time, he wouldn’t believe it until we parked the bikes side by side for a little A/B test, no doubt, it was because I run clear lens and he had them FU smoke ones, I don’t know if they were hd or kuryakyn lens, but he did say he did buy the tail light with turns as a unit, so I guess that they were k, so between the smoked lens and the "that brand" LED’s I wouldn’t have that set up for free, I ran red lens before I could get the clear one and the red one was no comparing to the smoked, please others save your comments on smoke lens, yeah I know "there cool" yes at night but IMO they suck in the daylight and if the sun is on them, God bless you, because if two bikers that were in back of him on that day had trouble telling if the brake light came on, what would a cage drive see ?
I’ve been running LED’s since 2000 (small bar bottom of lin plate) in ‘02 (when they came out for m/c) with front/rear turn and rear run/brake signals I jumped on them, it was simple but I found out, you can’t run LED’s with a standard flasher at the time, the std. flasher can’t even see the tiny amp draw, so I put in the proto-type flasher where I got the signals, they were just sending one out for production, I got the other one I still have it and it’s still working.
Standard bulbs can’t compare, they are outdated, antiques, there is lag time when it goes on and off, you really don’t notice it, until a LED is next to it, as for brightness not even close, the other bennies using them, low current draw, (you think of this when your battery craps out and your limping home) vibration, my LED’s are seal in epoxy, and you will most likely never replace them w/ 100,000 hr duty use, one of the main features is you can adjust the flash rate, nice if you travel at high-speed, if you use a solid state flasher, I adjusted my rate approx. 2 to 2.5 times a second, sounds fast ? look at your rate when changing lanes on the interstate, brighter and higher flash rate = people see you faster and more.
I am talking about LED’s that run $80 per pair (48 lights per unit)
Look for intensity, viewing angle things one doesn’t find at the dealer hanging on the wall 1157 type base with LED’s for $20 or so bucks, you also have to chose what color, more important do you what 1156 single (run only) or 1157 dual (run/turn) make this right, you don’t want to get 1156 now then change your mind when you outfit you bike w/dual elements housings to be seen better.
[left][color=#0000cc]I like color amber LED’s for front, red LED’s for the rear, running w

Anubisss,
I'll go the other direction from cj_slowdown. I run the Kuryakyn "Panacea" taillight and turnsignals on my ultra. They're very VERY visible daylight or night.I'm also partial of the fact that the brakelight/turnsignals work together for even added visibility.I would suggest looking at all the LED's available if that's the way you want to go.I'm of the mind that you'll hear both good and bad about brand X vs brand Y and Z. Good luck.

and mine don’t work together ? : - )oh yourtalking about the turns signal using half thebrake light with a “arrowâ€inserts in the brake light, right ? there is pro and cons in that arrangement, your using up half the brake light area to light up an “arrow†in the brake light field, IMO what that gives you is less distinction and less than full brake light, yes you got a flashy thing going on with the arrow, but at the same time your paying for it, by having half your brake light taken away, Radiantz had/has them I took a pass, as for “even added visibility†true, your right, and I hope the cage driver in back of you notice that your "stopping" in the middle of the turn, because of that “something in the roadâ€, sorry you keep the flashing arrow in the brake light, Ill keep the extra brightness and area of a full brake light.

Yes go ahead do look at all of them, make sure you go the hd dealer and compare them $15 ones hanging on the wall.

Look I was giving you what I have learn in the last 7 years of being into LED’s soon they will be in every home and business, but I agree with Outlaw on this go see brand X, Y and Z but before you go try getting some info on the subject, try this web site, more info than you can stand on lighting and motorcycles.

cj,
Chill dude.....Just gave anubisss "MY" opinion of the Kuryakyn's I run. As you could see in my previous post........I recommended that he check out "ALL" the LED's availible. If I remember correctly,I also stated that he would hear the good AND bad about all the LED combo's out there. I've got nothing in it personally. Just gave him something to think about. Relax and enjoy the weekend.

Outlaw,
I know it seems like I was dumping but realize something please don’t confuse being passionate about a subject to just blowing off, I mean I been down this road of LED’s many times some on this forum and others, people come on me because I say something about a brand or didn’t like my style explaining it, so I guess out of habit or history I might have come on a little strong.

But if you remember I did say “but I agree with Outlaw on this go see brand X, Y and Z†and gave a good web site.

Let me be a little clearer about what I should have include in the previous replies to anubisss, about Kuryakyn.

Kuryakyn, in my opinion makes some good stuff along with some junk, I am not saying their LED’s are junk, maybe it was the combination of their LED’s in the smoke lens, but it did proveto me and a buddy riding behind a friends RK with his wife on the back, all four of us agreed that there is a problem in seeing those lights, be it a problem with the current going to them, the lens or the quality of the LED’s themselves, but something was wrong, four riders agreed on that, I will find out this june at lake george, ny when I met up with him and see if he change the lens or something else was wrong.

My beef with Kuryakyn is that they are in the business of making all kinds of m/c parts for a lot of different brands, no problem with that, but when Iwent out to buy lighting I brought it at a place that is in the business of making LED’s lights for motorcycles, period. They put all of their resources in one product and I seen the product and again IMO is the best. That’s not to say Kuryakyn can’t make good LED’s but I tend to go with the odds.

[font="times new roman"]Anybody here install forward controls on a ’06 low rider ? I work with a buddy that went from a sportster with F.C then got this new LR well he is talllike myself, he said I got too get a pair, he said he wanted Kuryakyn, I ask him did he look around at any other brands ? he said well I am not going to spend what you did for them accutroix ! ok but did you still look around ? he went on this forum did a little research and sent for the Kuryakyns, on a monday I ask him how did it go ? he wasn’t too happy he had trouble installing them, seems Kuryakyn didn’t include a bushing or something he called them up, the guy said yeah we, re-design the F.C. you should have gotten this bushing (I think it was that, not sure but can talk with him this monday, when back to work) anyway it didn’t work, even with this new part, he just sent them back, he is still looking for F.C. I think you have it Outlaw, ever since that day with them smoked lens, it really bother me big time, I saw them at night once they seemed ok ? but on a sunny day wow what a difference, anyway I got in touch (beginning of january) with that web site that does all that testing on LED’s the one I listed, and sent them a e-mail about it, at least I got something back from them:

Hi CJ:Thanks for visiting webBikeWorld and for all your support! I hadn't thought about smoked lenses but will check them out and see if we can do a review. Thanks for the tip.....Rick

So hopefully they will do some testing, I let him know in the e-mail my concerns were about them in the daytime and sunny, not at night.

Hay I don’t have anything against the color gray ! next too black it’s my favorite color : - )

Take care,

cj
