Default Work Light

The work light, I find it a lot easier to work on the bike/car with one, I really learned over the years to dislike incandescent light bulb ones, good for curing gasket sealer but not much else, but I been looking for a LED one, either way, too expensive or junk, I found one at Pep-Boys it’s a Black and Decker "Bright Bar" it has 26 LEDs works on DC or AC power, costs $40.00
The work light has a flat bottom it can stand on it’s own, no cord attached at the bottom the charging cube with 10’ cord plugs in to the side of the handle, the connection is the same as with most hd battery tender charging units quick disconnect wiring harness that connects on the battery and sits there until it’s plugged in, so get one of these ends attach it to a cigarette plug, instant 12 V adapter for charging this unit in your cage, the cube puts out 17 DCVolts the cube states 120VAC in, 12 DCVolts out, the hanging hook swivels, very tough housing and lens ABS plastic a 3 way switch, High output 26 LEDs (4 hrs) and Low output (7 hrs) on low it lights 16 LEDs believe me it doesn’t give that much less of light output and that is most likely where I will keep it, on low, and believe me it’s bright, very bright on low and one can use this with the AC cube if one takes longer than 7 hrs : - ))
Overall it’s 14" long without the clip, handle is approx 2" in dia. good grip I like the way it stands up on the base for those many times you can’t hang the light on anything and forget that cord, always watching where to drape it or not to lay it, over the paint, chrome, between your feet !
I am a big LED fan, they last longer (this model 10,000 hrs) bright light and less draw, this light doesn’t even get warm let alone hot, looks to have a replaceable Ni-MH battery.
I didn’t think B&D could bring out a light as this (yes of course it’s made in commie land) hopefully this will be the last trouble light I buy and I can throw out or give away the twin florescent drop light I have, couldn’t see nothing with it, it’s like not even in the same league as this unit.
Of course you can use it in case of an emergency or camping, you must charge this unit when new, don’t charge it longer than 8 hrs. per instructions.
Attached is a pic of the light, it’s on high but remember the camera flash is butting heads and that is good cause one can see the unit.
I figured I would put this here, where all the wrenches are : - )
Take care, ride safe,
cj

Thanks for the recommendation, John!

Looks interesting and certainly something I could use while working under the car or as an emergency work light when on the road!

That's what I like about this place.

About two months ago Ibustedthe flourescent drop light I've been using the last couple of years It was OK but I've been looking at the LED ones since. It's good to see a positive post about something like this that I'm sure most of the guys here need at least now and then.

Guys, I took my work light up to a friend place he has a business this guy has every toy or light in existence : - ) he brought an LED work light on the net, it was nice I would have like to brought one but the price was out of sight way too much money somewhere near $100 a few years ago, but large money for a light to me, anyway when he seen it light he said how much ? 40 bucks, damn and the thing is brighter than mine ! then I hit the high switch : - ) even with 10 LEDs out, low is almost as bright as high 26 LEDs.

He also has in his work shop a (4) tube fluorescent work light I never seen one, like you I have a twin (2) tubes, I said light it up let’s check it out, we put it on one of his units he was working on, right off the LED shown right through his light pattern, as we both moved around this unit we both saw how the LED didn’t have the shadows on the edges of light like the fluorescent cast.

He like the way it stands on the base also the ABS plastic it was made of, the 7 hrs on low it’s rated at, we both agreed most all one work can be easily be done on the low setting.

Thanks for the come back, it’s really a good work light, your right Jim this will make a great car and emergency light as well.

Take care,

cj

I saw on Meritline.com website, a work lite made up of 25 bright LED's in a disk shape about 2 inches across that was attached to a series of elastic bands that allow you to wear it as a head piece, like a doctor or coal miner. Super bright and always pointing where you are looking. Not sure what type of batterys it takes (looks like watch disk batteries) but it was only 7.99 Was curious but didn't order. Thought i would share

Went on the site but couldn’t find it, they did have a nice 30 LED stand up lamp not for working around bikes/cars but a nice one for 10 bucks, I never did like head lamps, I can see they are useful like in camping but I just hold a small AA light between my teeth : - )

later,
cj

Edit:

Hay, Headwolf,

Forgot your just up the road ! not a bad winter so far, take care, ride safe.

I was just at my Walmart and they're $29.92 and Ihad them do a price check and it was right. The ones right above these were $19.77 so I would have bought one of these for $19 but not for $30. Since you don't have any particulars in your profile like city or state, I have no idea where you live.
