Received a post card from my dealer yesterday with a couple of interesting offers. First, the headline reads: 'We'll Take Anything In Trade...Bikes, Cars, Trucks, Boats...Even Jewelry.' WTF? Jewelry? At a Harley dealer? What's next, change the name of the place to 'Wisconsin Harley and Pawn'?
They're also offering a 'Guaranteed Full Trade Value for one year on any new '07 Sportster purchase.' I remember Buell having a similar offer a few years back, but I've never seen anything like this being done for any of the Harley models...not in this neck of the woods anyway.
Any small print? Does sound a little unusal but maybe they are finally thinking outside the box. Ifthey are nearby, I'd checkit out.If you go, post more info.
My local dealer will also take anything in trade. They were willing to take my boat in on trade for a new street bob for my wife. The only problem is that its a typical harley deal, everything they have is worth top dollar....but what your trading in not worth much. Needless to say they didnt get my boat for what they offered.
hmmm.. I have a 95 Mustang GT and a 93 Ford conversion van I'd like to trade for a V-Rod. I could probably talk the wife into the paymentstoo, since I'd be getting rid of two vehicles.
I've seen the Sportster deals like that before. It's not a bad deal (depending on the fine print), you get into a Harley, and after a year you can move up, which alot of people end up doing. Plus that gives you a chance to really think about the Harley you want. Looking back, I'm not sure I would've picked the Lowrider as my first Harley (had 2 Buell's beforehand).
Trading in jewelry is pretty funny! I guess those who would rather have a Harley than aspouse (current or future) are being targeted!
wow I've got a Rolex dad left for me that was appraised at over $30k....hmmm, so they're trading for jewelry, eh??? Maybe a nice 883 XL for the wife and a V Rod for moi? lol

I bet they wouldnt give you 30k for that Rolex, I am sure it's all about the trade value, sure they can show you 30k on anything you trade, but the price of what you are buying is gonna be 60k, and that sounds like a nice damn watch, I got a buddy who buys and sells Rolex's. Not sure he makes any money doing it, but he always has a bunch.
Local dealer here has done the full trade on any current model year sporty within a year of purchase for a couple of years now. Thinking along the lines of a sporty being a first Harley for a lot of people it's just a way to get them back in to upgrade quicker.
