Default Buffeting

Hello all, I have a 2005 1200C and installed a 17" Memphis Shade El Paso and get serious buffeting. Would it help to cut the windhsield down to say 14" to decrease the buffeting? I am not trying to keep the wind off my face but it would nice to keep it off my chest while riding the interstate on longer trips. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Next time you're out, put your left forearm across the front of your chest and move it about a little. There's a good chance your problem is wind coming up from the bottom of the windshield and not over the top. I don't know how much adjustment you have with that brand of wihdshield but perhaps you can change the angle of the windshield and that might help.

I have a Del Rio and I'm sure Whaap is right as this is the case with my shield.

Thanks for the info, and has anyone used the Memphis Shade Lowers to stop the air from coming in from underneath. I read a lot ofbuyer commentsabout it on the Phat Performance site and everyone says this cures the buffeting.

Jack's Flap vest fixed my buffeting if I am going 60 or faster. He is a forum sponsor. Both on the Sportster with a Windvest 14" shield and the Road King.

A wide fork bag stopped about 50-60%. Some kind of lowers I think would work for the rest.

I ordered the Memphis Shade Lowers and am hoping that it cures the problem. I'm going to do a couple thousand mile round trips this summer and would like to use the windshield on the interstate.

Yes, they help significantly - especially with a FF helmet. See my sig pics.
