Default Samson does NOT stand behind their product

Greetings all! Haven't been around for a while. Moved to TN in January, been busy with that. Great country for riding. I return with a product warning.

When I bought my bike, I also ordered pipes. I took a chance on Samson because the Street Sweepers had the look I wanted and sounded raunchy. They were backordered for months but I waited for them. They looked and sounded great. All was well for the first several months. Like everybody said, I realized when I had it dyno tuned I was taking a loss with these pipes. Small price I said.

About a month or so ago, I found a radial crack on the front pipe, right at the rear mounting bracket. I thought I remember the warranty being only six months so I just cussed it and went for a ride. Figured I'd get it welded up, the heat shield covers it up. Then I got on their website to check yesterday and found the warranty to be a year. So I called the dealership this morning to find out when I picked them up, because I paid for them months before that. The guy looked through his book and found it. Turns out to be 5/9/06. He faxes me a copy of the invoice. So then I call Samson, three weeks late. I explain it to the guy on the phone, he asks how old they are. I tell him. He says there is nothing he can do and gives some excuse about new management. Doesn't offer to ask somebody higher up or anything. I politely tell him that if I come to this forum and report what's happened and he loses one sale, it has paid for a set of replacements. He hung up the phone.

Doesn't matter that I waited for months while they were on backorder. Or that I recommended these pipes to everybody. Or that there's only a few thousand miles on them. Or that I gave a company with a less than stellar reputation a chance. Or that I noticed the crack over a month ago. Or that it takes quite a while for such a long radial crack to develop. Their warranty is one year and not a day over. Their customer service sucks to boot. So I sincerely apologize to everybody that bought their pipes based in part on my glowing recommendation. I hope you never have any trouble with them.

I'm gonna have to go order some Bassani ProStreets. Clermont Harley has been so good to deal with, I'm gonna order them from there and have them drop shipped here.

Looks like I won't be buying the Cannons.

I was all set to buy those same pipes based on looks, but my indy steered me away from the samsons entirely. He said if I wanted a good power producing pipe from a company that backs their product, to just stick with V&H and be done with it.
