Default Oil Cooler Install

Some pics of the premium oil cooler install I did yesterday. Had hit a high of 265 degrees following a 2-up 200 mile ride last week.

Alsosent PCIII back to Dynojet for problem, not reading TP correctly. I reset it, tried other fixes, to no avail. They fixed it and sent it back no charge and express shipping. Should have tomorrow. That was the culprit I'm sure, hadda be way lean, but I figured while the RKC is down awaiting PCIII's return, good opportunity toinstall the cooler anyway.

Pretty easy, about an hour, with an oil change.

Thanks"iclick" for the tip on the 7/16" hex for the new filter adapter. Had it before I started. Made it ezzzz.

I'll post some post install temps after scoots back on rode and a few rides.

I installed mine on Friday and if I had not went and got the 7/16 allen before starting the job I would have been MAD!!! It went in pretty easy but the tool store did not have the allen on a socket (which would have been ideal) so I had to use a standard allen. I had to grab it with a channel lock to torque it down and of course I have no ifdeal how tight it went on but I was very woried about over tightening and stripping the threads since the oil cooler arm is cast as part of the engine now and if it strips that means new engine cases (LOTS OF FUN). Have you had any issues with leaking? I thought mine was seeping out from the adaptor plate or a hose but I retorqued the claps on the hoses and they are deffinantly not leaking. I used some WD40 to clean all the spilled oil off the area and need to wait and see if I get any drips. I sure hope not.

No seeping after running for a short while after install, just to check tightness. Haven't taken out for a good long ride yet though, waiten on PCIII to reinstall. I'll let ya know SB if I see somethin develop.

Did you have the allen on a socket? If not how did you torque the filter adapter? Probably like me with the long end in the adaptor and a pair of channel locks or something. Looking back if I would have not followed the directions and removed the regulator before installing the adaptor plate I could have used the short end to turn the adaptor and the long end to grab ahold of.

If I remember right the torque values were only 12-16 ft lbs. I used my time tested clicking elbow for that one. Snugged it up. Threads were coated with red thread sealer (loctite?)anyway. I'll inspect for any seepage go'in forward and "retorque" at next oil change.

online can get for around 240.

used an 11 mm allen socket which is just as hard to find! ordered it online too.

At the time had not bought any torque wrenches so used a "take it off and put it on" feel methed. or tight with 2 gruntsAm hesitent to check torque now that its on fine especially sense theres that lock tight stuff on threads? had to wash and wait to see if any leaks apeared but found none, nil, nothing
