i have run the blue wires to possibly attach to the harley wires to make it a bit longer. not sure how i want to finish this part yet. if i use the blue wires then there will be 2 more butt splices inside the guard.

thanks for any advice.

Do like electricians do. Use something to "fish" the wires through.

My favorite tool for short runs is a wire coat hanger. Fish the hanger through and tape the wire you want to pull back to it.

Sometimes it can be hard to fish a wire through a pipe like that -- I've had luck using a small piece of steel on some dental floss (high tech, I know) You can move the bit of steel inside the pipe with a magnet and get it to the next hole. Then use the floss to pull a stronger wire through and use that to pull the electical wire through.

Use a vacuum to suck a string through and the string to pull the wires through

By some chance, did you take pictures of how you wired this into the ACC switch. This is a project I've been wanting to do but have not found much information on how best to accomplish this. If your still able to shot the pics or explain what you did, I'd be really thankful!

-the first picture is showing the ACC connector that is in with the battery. Just take out the battery and you will find it.
-the second picture is showing the Orange wire from the ACC connector and the switch wire from the lighting kit. I cut the white wire from the button (you can throw the button out after this), stripped it a bit and wrapped it around the post of the Orange wire. Make sure you have at least 10 inches of the white wire so you aren't stretching them. Then heat shrinked them together. After that you can reinstall the Orange wire back into the ACC connector. This also allows you to still use the ACC connector for stuff down the road. All I'm doing is using the switching action to turn on my lights, the power draw is still from the battery (B+ connector also in with the battery).
-the third picture shows where I tucked in the relay. There was an open hole on the upper side of that holder so I just tucked it in and it fit very nicely.
-the fourth picture is the tool I made to pull out the center wedge from the ACC connector. If you have the service manual then it tells you how to disassemble and reassemble the Duetcsh connectors.

for the finished product...

Thanks for taking the time to do that.

One thing I'm not clear on... I was under the impression that the acc switch was like a master switch for power to other switches that you would/could install on the dash. I take it from what you've shown, that's not the case, Correct?

I your lights are not tied to the high/low beam, so they will work no matter what. Correct?

Again, thanks for taking the time to document this. This really has started to give me a much better idea of what needs to be done.
